A Final Call to Prayer

Dear Church Leaders and Prayer Warriors

I have been so overjoyed these last few months as I have discovered many praying churches in the Body of Christ and witnessed the unity among them. I believe with my whole heart that the prayer of Jesus Christ in John 17 is finally coming to pass. Many years ago, a dear friend had a very powerful vision of a giant figure of a man lying across the southern tip of Africa. This man was immobilised. His hands and legs were pinned down with ropes and hundreds of little demon spirits were busy hammering stakes into the ground, securing the ropes to prevent him from getting up. The Lord revealed that the giant was the Church. It was in a very lethargic state and it would require prayer and unity for it to rise up and break the bonds of powerlessness and inability.

ESTABLISHING A POWERFUL PRAYER STRATEGY
This letter will be going out to over 7,000 church leaders and I want to encourage as many churches as possible to pray for the upcoming elections. We, as a church, have launched several hundred prayer cells, as well as a powerful Saturday morning prayer meeting where hundreds of Christians gather weekly to pray for the nation. Our theme is 2 Chronicles 7:14 and we are trusting in the Lord for righteousness and justice to prevail, for healing to come in our land and for a godly government with godly Kingdom values to emerge.

PRAYING FOR FINANCIAL BREAKTHROUGH IN OUR LAND
This is the finest hour for the Church to fulfil its role and to be the light and the salt in a hopeless, helpless world, where everything appears to be failing. Every child of God can experience financial wellbeing, for our economy is not determined by this world and its failures, but by the Kingdom of God, by the Creator of all things. Jesus is the King of kings and the Lord of lords and it is Him that we preach, bringing good news and salvation to all dimensions of life on earth.

I want to encourage every pastor, teacher and leader to take up the challenge! Let us lead this nation and its wonderful people into a time of soul-searching prayer and repentance, so that God can truly reign in our hearts and our nation. With weeks to the elections, let us not waste time, but gather the army of the Lord, put on the full amour of God and do some very serious intercession and spiritual warfare. Wherever possible, join with co-workers in prayer programmes and national prayer days to strengthen the flow of prayer. Pray, what I call, the “Royal Prayer” daily: “Thy will be done in South Africa”.

My prayer for every co-worker is that you will experience the fire of God’s Holy Spirit burning in your heart and ministry. I also pray that you will feel the same unction and desire that is in me and in many other pastors to pray down the power of God upon our nation in the months to come. South Africa is standing on the threshold of a mighty revival and we have it in our power to make it happen. There has been so many prophecies regarding this and I am preparing myself and the church to bring it to birth. Join me in this great time in history. Together let us make history and be God-pleasers and not man-pleasers.

Your servant in Christ

21-Day Prophetic Prayer Journey

At the beginning of this year I was approached by two high profile church leaders and asked to put together a prayer book based on my personal experience and success in the dimension of prayer. For 15 years our church has set aside the month of January as a time of prayer and fasting. We have seen amazing results. Lives have been changed, marriages healed and families restored. Wonderful testimonies of healings and deliverances have been shared and so much more and all because people put aside 21 days to seek the Lord and surrender their lives to the Father.

Prayer should be Prophetic
Prayer must be viewed as prophetic; it must be God-directed, Word-based and Holy Spirit-inspired. When we pray we are calling things that are not as though they are. Prayer is putting our faith in Someone who is more than capable and able to answer prayer, meet our needs and change circumstances that we as mere humans cannot change. This Person is the Lord Jesus Christ for He is the Author and Finisher of our faith.

Prayer should not be ‘Crisis Management’
Prayer should never just be a ‘crisis management’ tool that we use whenever disaster strikes. By maintaining a daily ongoing relationship with the Lord it is possible to avert danger. With the help of the Holy Spirit you will be made sensitive to impending and imminent trouble situations. If your prayer life and personal life is in line with God’s Word you bring the Lord right on the scene along side of you every time. You will discover that He is a near and ever-present help through all our troubles and concerns. I have often felt that my prayers have averted trouble that would have come my way, had I not prayed.

A Hit and Miss Prayer Life
Most people struggle to pray when it should be the most exciting and stimulating part of their Christian experience.
Maybe you don’t know how to pray, or maybe your prayer life is a ‘hit and miss’ situation. You can transform and improve your fellowship with God through firstly, knowledge of prayer as seen in God’s Word and secondly, implementing this knowledge to empower your prayer life.

Laser-Focused Prayer
I hope to bring about the stimulus that will spur you on to start and continue a prayer journey for the rest of your life. Laser-focused prayer will change you, change and impact the people around you, change your circumstances, but most importantly, keep you in the will of God and save your loved ones.

Living Life in the ‘Revelation Zone’
The Father is waiting for you to join Him in the ‘Secret Place’ of the Most High, a place that I have termed the ‘Revelation Zone’. It is here that you will find peace hope and joy, attributes that this world cannot even begin to understand let alone impart. It is also the place where you will discover the ‘heartbeat’ of the Father.

The POWER of UNITED Prayer

Dear fellow-disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ

The Lord has clearly been leading me to continue the thrust towards a new prayer “movement” in South Africa. In this context a “movement” is more than one church or even church groups praying. It is the Almighty God moving on the entire body of Christ in a nation, as well as the surrounding nations.

I have had such wonderful responses to my previous letter. I could immediately see the responsible attitude that the Lord’s people have taken concerning prayer for the future of our nation. Thank you for all the kind letters and the Christ-like attitudes.

It is necessary for individual believers to stop and consider the purpose and role of the Body of Christ in this nation. I believe that as His Body we have to manifest and proclaim the Kingdom of God in its entirety in order to bring about peace and stability to the land. The burden of this nation and its future rests squarely on our shoulders as representatives of the Kingdom of God. The Lord Jesus placed His trust in His Church and gave the Church great authority to overcome and overthrow the wickedness of the devil and his cohorts. The Bible clearly tells us in Eph 6:12 that our battle is against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. We are all part of God’s precious Kingdom irrespective of our backgrounds, cultures and denominations. The time for unity in the Church is more important than our differences. The power of our unity will far outweigh the negativity that is trying to rob our nation of peace and stability.

2 Tim 3:1 [AMP] But understand this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].

I have been studying and monitoring the “signs of the times” (Eschatology) for years and can only say that the signs are screaming out loudly. The night is far spent and the Day of the Lord is at hand. Concerning our own nation, we, as spiritual, leaders have to maintain a positive and faith-filled attitude, confessing that this wonderful land belongs to God and His children. I, together with our church, pray weekly and speak positively over our nation, believing for peace and stability as promised in 1 Tim 2:1.

The Father has given His Church the ability to discern the changes that are coming to this land. Therefore, we have the responsibility to rise up in the spirit of love and unity, praying unselfishly for God’s divine intervention. God is the Supreme Ruler of South Africa and we as His humble servants must place our full trust in Him and not in the hands of flesh and blood. We, as the Church, have a powerful contribution to make to ensure peace in our land. Poverty and need are increasing around us. We have to climb in and help with the upliftment of the needy communities surrounding us. We, as the righteous servants of the Lord, must make the necessary sacrifices to bring this about. The Message Bible sheds much light on this matter:

2 Cor 1:11 You and your prayers are part of the rescue operation — I don’t want you in the dark about that either. I can see your faces even now, lifted in praise for God’s deliverance of us, a rescue in which your prayers played such a crucial part.

It is not our role to criticise, but to love and reach out. We are to build up and not break one another down. We are not to walk in fear, but in faith and prayer. It is our God-ordained roles and responsibilities to stand in the gap on behalf of all the peoples of this land. We are part of the solution for a bright tomorrow that is just as bright as all the promises of God’s Word. We seek and prophesy unity over the Body of Christ in our nation and worldwide.

At the beginning of 2009 our church will be having our 18th annual 21-day Daniel’s fast and prayer time. We will be praying that the Kingdom of God will be established and His will be done in South Africa. We follow the pattern as described in the Book of Daniel chapters 1 and 10. Many churches across the nation have joined in through the years. It would be so beneficial to our nation if more and more could join this powerful prayer action. Our most pressing needs are to pray against crime, immorality, all forms of corruption and drug smuggling. There is a huge move against our youth to draw them into the drug culture. They are our future and we need to intercede mightily for them. There are so many more prayer needs. We invite you to visit our website [www.prayernetwork.co.za] for more information.

It is my personal prayer that the fear of the Lord, holiness and integrity will fill our nation. Statistically, 79.8% of our nation has confessed that they are Christians [www.southafricaataglance.com], but the evidence of Christian values and principles is not being practiced. We need to pray that there will be a move from Church-centeredness to Christ-centeredness within the churches across our nation. There are many converts, but very few disciples or “Christ-followers”, as I like to refer to them.

So dear friend, you are on my prayer list and I pray that God’s perfect will be established in your life, your calling, as well as your ministry [Ps 91:17]. Do not give up in your labour for the Lord. He is faithful and will reward His labourers for their loyal and devoted service to Him. Never allow the love of God to slack in your service to the King. Love His flock and be willing to lay down your life for them as the Lord Jesus demonstrated and did for us all.

Please join me and churches across our nation as we take hands and pray for the future of South Africa.

May God bless you and protect you and your family.

In His service
